18 Mar Hawaiian Warrior
I step off of the plane in Oahu Hawaii and the warm air stirs memories of paradise, but I am here to delve into a bit of the island that most tourists never see. Many West Side Hawaiians become immersed in the fighting world at a young age. Encouraged by their parents who claim their kids need the skills to survive. I spent 2 days with Lowen Tynanes, a 23 year old Ewa Beach local who as an amateur took down the Philippine ONE FC champion in a single round and a pool of blood. Since turning pro Tynanes continues to dominate fighter after fighter with Arm-Triangle Chokes, Rear-Naked Chokes and Elbow TKO’s. And after watching him spar with a few pro boxers I can understand why he is at home in the cage.
